Dr. Ken Macro

Dr. Ken Macro is an associate professor in the Graphic Communication Department at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. He leads courses in print production management, marketing and sales, post-press processes, introduction to graphic communication and, specializes in knowledge management and Lean manufacturing and sustainability. He has an affinity for print history and printed incunabula. Prior to academia, he was the director for Reprographics, Mailing and Shipping Services at both Cal Poly and The University of Akron.

Ken's prior career portfolio consists of various sales and managerial roles in the graphic communication and healthcare industries including: graphics manager for Alltel Directories Publishing in Hudson, Ohio; marketing director for various healthcare facilities in the Pittsburgh area; owner and president of a printing and copying business in central Pennsylvania; regional sales coordinator for Kinko's of Ohio; and, a radio broadcaster for a radio station in central Pennsylvania.

Ken holds degrees from the Pennsylvania State University, the University of Akron, and a PhD in education and knowledge management from Walden University. An international speaker and consultant, he has authored papers and articles in respected industry-related journals and periodicals; presented papers at leading universities and organizations in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, China, Russia, Ukraine, and Canada; and, is the co-author of the book "Lean Printing: Pathway to Success" (2007, PIA/GATF). He resides in Atascadero, California with his wife and three sons.

Josh Ramsbottom

Josh Ramsbottom, Principal for the Centre for Excellence in Print Media at NorQuest College, earned a MA degree from the London College of Communication in London, England in Print Media Management and has been actively working to support the printing and graphic communication industries in Western Canada.

Josh has written articles on Globalization, Lean Manufacturing, Colour Management and HR issues affecting the printing industry for national trade magazines and is currently a visiting professor with Ryerson University's department of Graphic Communication Management in Toronto, where he is doing research on the challenges small and medium size printers' face in today's economy. Prior to joining NorQuest, Josh instructed and led graphic design and multimedia programs at the University of Alberta's Technology Training Centre, Guru Digital Arts College and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
